Stewardship is probably one of the least understood things amongst many believers. So let's dive into some scripture and see what scripture says about it. You'll probably know this this passage yourself. This one is from Matthew chapter 25, starting from verse 14.

For the kingdom of heaven is as a man traveling into a far country who called his own servants and delivered unto them his goods. And unto one, he gave five talents, to another 2, and to another 1, to every man according to his several ability. And straightway, he took his journey. Then he that received the 5 talents went and traded with the same and made them other 5 talents.

And likewise, he that had received 2, he also gained other 2. But he that had received 1 went and digged in the earth and hid his lord's money. After a long time, the lord of those servants cometh and reckon it with them. And so he that had received 5 talents came And brought other 5 talents saying, lord, thou deliverest unto me 5 talents. Behold, I have gained beside them 5 talents More. His lord said unto him, well done, thou good and faithful servant. Thou has been faithful over a few things. I will make the ruler over many things.

Enter into the joy of thy lord. He also that received 2 talents came and said, Lord, thou deliverest unto me 2 talents. Behold, I have gained 2 other talents beside them. His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant. Thou has been faithful over a few things. I will make thee ruler over many things. Enter thou into the joy of thy lord. Then he which had received the 1 talent came and said, lord, I knew that thou art a hard man, Reaping where thou hast not sown and gathering where thou hast not strawed.

And I was afraid and went and hid thy talent in the earth. There, thou hast that is thine. His lord answered and said unto him, thou wicked and slowful servant. Thou knewest that I reap where I sow not and gather where I have not strawed. Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchanges, And then at my coming, I should have had received mine own with usury. Take therefore the talent from him and give it unto him which has 10 talents. For unto everyone that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance. But from he that hath not Shall be taken away even that which he hath, and cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness.

There shall be a weeping and a gnashing of teeth.

Now a lot of people think that that is just relating to the spiritual talents that we have. But, actually, it relates to Every part of a believer's life, if you think about it, if god has given you something, it's not just to entertain you for a time. It's so that you might use that something and go and be profitable with it. One of the first things I'd like you to notice about it is from verse 16, wherein it says, then he that hath received the 5 talents went and traded with same and made them other 5 talents. The faithful servant didn't just put that money on the shelf and polish it up every day. He actually used it. He was active in his stewardship, in other words.

Yet many times, I see believers who are given, some sort of stewardship They do nothing with it. They say, oh, the lord has given this to me. But then they don't use it. Now there are many, both spiritual talents and practical talents that we are given. And I'm not gonna go into it deeply here because this is just a quick overview. But the simple fact of the matter is is that those are there for us to use, to multiply so that Not only do we show ourselves were a worthy steward and honor what god has given us, but they're also there to increase the abundance in the kingdom of God. Now it's also written in scripture that if you are not faithful in looking after another man's things, You can't expect to be given your own. And that's the way stewardship often works is that we are given charge of a a small stewardship, and we show ourselves worthy of that.

And then we get a promotion, if you like, wherein we get more responsibility. We have the possibilities of making a much bigger effect using the things that have been put into our hands in this stewardship so that the kingdom of god is multiplied and that we are blessed, and god is glorified.
